CIRPS (Interuniversity Center for Research and Sustainable Development) is a center of research excellence for 300 teaching, research and technical staff coming from the nine Italian universities that belong to the project plus another 40 from Italian and international universities, research centers, companies and institutions. CIRPS co-ordinates and takes part in networks of excellence, research projects and local development activities on an international level. The unit for the production of energy from biomass, wind and other renewable systems (Produzione Energetica da biomasse, da eolico e altri sistemi di potenza da Rinnovabili or Proener) works on research into the generation of energy from new and renewable energy sources.
