CIRPS (Interuniversity Center for Research and Sustainable Development) is a center of research excellence for 300 teaching, research and technical staff coming from the nine Italian universities that belong to the project plus another 40 from Italian and international universities, research centers, companies and institutions. CIRPS co-ordinates and takes part in networks of excellence, research projects and local development activities on an international level. The unit dealing with technologies for autonomy and the environment (Tecnologie per l'autonomia e l'ambiente or TpAA) develops scientific research programs for the experimental application and strengthening of projects for a more sustainable development of water, energy and individual autonomy, in harmony with the environment/environs.
