The University of Naples Federico II (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II), the main university in the city of Naples, is the oldest state and lay university in the world. It was founded by Frederick II of Hohenstaufen, King of Sicily and Holy Roman Emperor on 5 June 1224. The school is composed of 13 faculties, divided into three main centers.
