The international center for the transfer of technological innovation on renewable energy sources (Centro Internazionale per il Trasferimento dell’Innovazione Tecnologica-CITT per le Fonti Energetiche Rinnovabili) - at Monterotondo Marittimo is meeting the need for disseminating and transfering innovative expertise and technological methodologies in order to aid the take-up of renewable energy sources. The center was born from the idea that it's becoming ever more urgent to disseminate and transfer innovative expertise and technological methodologies in order to aid the take-up of the various forms of renewable energy. The center has two partners - the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari Sant’Anna in Pisa and the energy and transport department of the CNR in Rome - which will follow the growth of this important initiative. Other partners (such as the CoSviG, the provincial government of Grosseto and Monterotondo Marittimo Council) will ensure close contact and relationships between the center and the local area as well as consultancy support for the continuing activity of R&D.

Energy Efficiency
NEFTIH2 project: A demotic installation called “NEFTIH2” (New Energy For Tomorrow Intelligent House) has been set up at the CITT site to control and manage integrated energy and technical systems, used in research and experiments for the following objectives:
· Zero-emissions energy efficiency
· Energy saving and independence
· Innovative technologies with a low environmental impact
· Distributed energy
As part of the project, a small energy-independent residence has been set up that doesn't burden the national electricity system, avoiding as much as possible to either withdraw or contribute electricity to the grid. This traditional-style residential unit is also going to be a place to look into energy saving following its construction thanks to various modifications that take advantage of the concept of demotics and the supply of innovative renewable energy sources.
Green Building
Energy saving - Dissemination and experimentation of energy saving systems such as: reduction of energy consumption in residential and public-sector buildings, hotels.
