CIRPS (Interuniversity Center for Research and Sustainable Development) is a center of research excellence for 300 teaching, research and technical staff coming from the nine Italian universities that belong to the project plus another 40 from Italian and international universities, research centers, companies and institutions. CIRPS co-ordinates and takes part in networks of excellence, research projects and local development activities on an international level. The EMURE Unit was established in 2001 to investigate issues regarding the new energy context, both in Italy and internationally. The two main areas of interest are the rational use of energy and energy management.
