Servitec was set up in 1996 by public bodies, business associations, trade-union organizations and some important local companies with the aim of encouraging the development of SMEs as well as spreading innovation and technology transfer. Servitec's main activity is to manage Point, Polo Tecnologico della Provincia di Bergamo (technology hub of the Province of Bergamo); this is a nexus of industrial, scientific and technological, university and business-service organizations that operates with complementary objectives and strategies to support the cultural and socio-economic development of the local area. About 20 organizations are currently based there.
