CIRPS (Interuniversity Center for Research and Sustainable Development) is a center of research excellence for 300 teaching, research and technical staff coming from the nine Italian universities that belong to the project plus another 40 from Italian and international universities, research centers, companies and institutions. CIRPS co-ordinates and takes part in networks of excellence, research projects and local development activities on an international level. The MAPEC Unit works in the area of applied research into the study, design and industrialization of machines for electricity generation and thermal conversion. It deals in particular for distributed micro-generation systems. It develops low-capacity co-generation and re-generation systems.
